Enjoying "Good News"
Q: GEORGE: Hi, Teresa, whilst typing this, I am listening again to that great album, Good News. How exciting was this to record with such an assortment of jazz musicians? You sound as if you are really enjoying yourself. Kind regards for your music.
A: TERESA: "We had a ball doing Good News. Dixieland jazz is one of my favorite types of music and The World’s Greatest Jazz Band is just that: the world’s greatest jazz band! It was led by Yank Lawson on trumpet and Bob Haggart on bass, both wonderful musicians as were all the others who played on that album. The World’s Greatest Jazz Band even joined me on several concert dates in the 1970s. They are an excellent bunch of musicians. Speaking of Yank Lawson, he and I go way back. Yank was one of the studio musicians at London Records around 1950 when I recorded things like ‘Choo’n Gum,’ ‘Honky Tonkin’’ and ‘Music! Music! Music!’ Years later, at Coral, he joined me on The Dixieland Band album. A great talent."
