"Music..." on RCA
Q: GEORGE: I have to say that the version of "Music Music Music" on the RCA label beats them all by far. It has taken me 20 years to track this version down. What do you think? As for "Ricochet," I like the Philips recording the best. Did any of your Philips singles get on the country charts? They deserve a lot more exposure.
A: TERESA: "The Coral and RCA re-recordings of 'Music Music Music' were done at a faster tempo than the original one on London, and I think that helped a lot. I always thought that the London version was too slow. It made it to #1 on the charts, though, so a lot of people obviously liked it. And, as far as I know, none of the Philips singles made it on the country charts."
Additional note: The Philips recordings of "The Ballad of Lover's Hill," "She'll Never Never Love You (Like I Do)" and "He Understands Me" never reached the country music record charts but they almost made Billboard's Hot 100. At the time, Billboard had a chart called "Bubbling Under," which listed songs just shy of making it on the Hot 100 list. These three songs "bubbled under."
